THE NOT-DRESS

Houghton's bride is fabulous, stylish, and with a mind of her own. Designer Katharine Polk's bridal... outfits, shall we say, for fall 2016 synthesise Penny Lane and Kate Moss back in the '90s, with a bit of Twiggy vibe, into an unapologetically boho, downtown-chic collection. Everything counts: lace bomber jackets, sequined tracksuits, icy blue sweatsuits, maxi skirts, Mongolian lamb motorcycle jackets and ultra-feminine floral leggings. Polk excels at the non-dress, a new futuristic bridal wear which has the glamour of haute and the unbeatable charm of that most ubiquitous piece in a woman's wardrobe.

For one-of-a-kind, extraordinary bridal look, there is nothing like luxurious wedding lingerie. Check out our fabulous GRACE stockings (£85.00), handcrafted in Scotland with natural lace heart, light peach cut-led crystals and Swarovski pearls, ivory feathers, luxuriously decorated with a rose bud and a small ivory beaded heart. A fine choice for a bridal look to stun!

Lace Corset

To match the bow-makes-the-dress trend and the search after structure, we pick the absolutely fantastic OVERBUST CORSET for Smooth Lines and Shape Wear (£595.00) from our exquisite Scottish bridal collection. The lace used in the design is woven on century old looms in Ayrshire using traditional patterns, giving a truly local touch to the lingerie. The design features sheer nylon mesh base with Ayrshire cotton lace overlay, satin trim, satin ribbon waist-tape and lacing, spiral steel boning, flat steels at lacing and bust. Perfectly bridal!

Arm coverage is looking sexy at Victoria Kyriakides's collection. While 'dress down' is a common path designers go down to please the goddess of sexy, others like Victoria

Kyriakides come up with more ways to cover the body in delicate, evocative ways. Her newest collection is a tribute to bridal softness: using a palette of blush, ivory and silver-grey; materials like silk tulles and embellished laces; designs like gossamer threadlike bodices, beautiful weightless skirts and hand-drawn 3D couture flowers. Kyriakides drew inspiration from constellations for her design structures and plays with the body's geometry to make it appear longer and more statuesque. Her gift for the brides of the future? Diaphanous, ultra-feminine arm coverage ranging from elaborately constructed straps to billowing sleeves and Victorian cuffs. The shoulders of brides have never been more spoilt and beautifully adorned.

Since intricate arm coverage pulls a lot of the attention to the upper body, our recommendation for such dresses is to accessorise with a brilliant headpiece, no hefty earrings or necklaces. Our exceptional ABELLA Forehead Band (£160.00) is a stunning tiara which can be worn in many different ways, depending on where you would like to have the twinkling accent. Intricately handwoven using the finest Swarovski elements, it can be worn across the forehead for more of a boho feel, or sweeping around the back of the head behind a bun, or even as a glorious headband. A gentle and regal touch for a similarly exquisite gown!

Three Sesigners...

Here are three designers who emphasise the value of small details and small changes that make a big difference in the wedding look of the modern bride. Now, how does the bride of autumn 2019 come down the red carpet laid out by their vision and inspiration? Let's see!

A sensual princess in a gothic fairytale has become the main protagonist in the designer's most recent creative fashion storytelling. Inspired by flirty Madrid, her bride is romantic, insatiable, and sultry. A hint of darkness envelopes the playful girliness of the gowns featuring exaggerated details in black and white, intricately designed sheer lace sheaths, voluminous skirts, hand-embroidered passementiere bodices and most of all, bows. For the next bridal season, Vera Wang gives us bows: oversize, edgy, dramatic. The flirty bows soften the overall design with its dark gothic edginess and streamlined silhouettes.
